Audrey began her career with a degree in civil engineering, gaining two years of industry experience before taking a break for personal commitments. Upon returning, she shifted her focus to fire engineering, inspired by an internship at a fire consultancy. Near the completion of her master’s degree, she applied for an internship opportunity at Origin Fire which later turned into a
full-time opportunity, and she was able to join Origin Fire in a full-time position.
At Origin Fire, Audrey designs fire safety solutions, writes reports, and marks up drawings for clients. She enjoys conducting site visits and the variety of learning opportunities her role offers, allowing her to work on multiple projects in short periods.
Audrey’s first project at Origin Fire remains particularly memorable, marking her initial site visit. Her problem-solving approach involves first principles thinking and consulting guidance documents, followed by discussions with colleagues for the best solutions.
Staying updated with industry trends through memberships with Engineering NZ, Audrey is proud of issuing her first fire report. She aspires to be a competent engineer providing solutions that meet both client needs and building code requirements, while also being a reliable team player.
Outside of work, Audrey enjoys hot yoga, badminton, walks, and has recently started pilates.
“I aspire to be a competent engineer that can provide solutions that can best meet the client’s need as well as the building code requirements.”
